Potato Cheezz and TexaPure contribute to a more sustainable food transition
The food industry is undergoing major changes. An increasing number of manufacturers is shifting toward healthier, more plant-based products with a lower climate impact. Aviko’s latest sustainability report highlights two of their own innovations that align perfectly with these trends: Potato Cheezz’s plant-based cheese and the functional ingredient TexaPure.
Minimal CO2 footprint
Potato Cheezz stands out with its remarkably low product carbon footprint. According to ISO 14067 certified research conducted in 2024 and reviewed in early 2025, emissions for all variants remain well below 1 kilogram of CO₂-eq per kilogram of product:
- Potato Cheezz Mozzarella: 0.95 kg CO₂-eq/kg
- Potato Cheezz Gouda/Cheddar: 0.74 kg CO₂-eq/kg
- TexaPure: 0.67 kg CO₂-eq/kg
Significant climate benefits and product improvements
That makes Potato Cheezz up to 10 times more climate-friendly than conventional cheese, which emits between 6 and 10 kg CO₂-eq per kilogram (depending on the type of cheese, based on data from the RIVM database).
TexaPure – developed for both meat and plant-based products – helps producers reduce the proportion of meat in their recipes by up to 15%. This leads to a lower CO₂ footprint and reduced costs per product, while also enhancing taste and mouthfeel.
Both ingredients support food manufacturers in taking real steps towards more sustainable food products.
